No New Books...
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I just haven't had any books to really review...I'm between book releases at the moment. Anyway, I have been rereading the Watersong series by Amanda Hocking. Normally, when I have books that I really like, I read it once and then reread and go through and make a Word document of quotes that I like or are particularly...cute...let's say, because of the ship. This is my second time reading the Watersong series but I didn't feel like starting the Word document, maybe next time. I know, I'm weird.
So, the Watersong series (no spoilers). The book jacket info from Good Reads:
"Fall under the spell of Wake—the first book in an achingly beautiful new series by celebrated author Amanda Hocking—and lose yourself to the Watersong.
Gorgeous. Fearless. Dangerous. They're the kind of girls you envy; the kind of girls you want to hate. Strangers in town for the summer, Penn, Lexi and Thea have caught everyone's attention—but it’s Gemma who’s attracted theirs. She’s the one they’ve chosen to be part of their group.
Gemma seems to have it all—she’s carefree, pretty, and falling in love with Alex, the boy next door. He’s always been just a friend, but this summer they’ve taken their relationship to the next level, and now there’s no going back. Then one night, Gemma’s ordinary life changes forever. She’s taking a late night swim under the stars when she finds Penn, Lexi and Thea partying on the cove. They invite her to join them, and the next morning she wakes up on the beach feeling groggy and sick, knowing something is different.
Suddenly Gemma is stronger, faster, and more beautiful than ever. But her new powers come with a terrifying price. And as she uncovers the truth, she’s is forced to choose between staying with those she loves—or entering a new world brimming with dark hungers and unimaginable secrets."
Amanda Hocking books (Watersong and Trylle) are not the type of books that I would buy myself. I only have them because my friend reads her books and gives them to me, so why not? That being said, the Watersong series and the Trylle trilogy are different types of books. I would say that they have more romance than action. (Seriously, would not have picked them out myself.) I do like both series, though. I know that they're not for everyone. They have about average ratings on Good Reads, and I can understand why. Sometimes they are a bit slow, but ships! Wendy/Loki and Gemma/Alex and Daniel/Harper....yup, I ship it! :)
I'm not really good at predicting what's going to happen in books, maybe it's because I focus on reading and not on predicting what's going to happen. Some of the Good Reads comments said that Amanda Hocking's writing is predictable....but I can't see it.
I'm kind of going on longer than I planned to....
So, if you're looking for a book to read, I would say to try these series. Just go to the library and get the first book and see if you like it. Although I would have to say, these books would probably be more for girls....
