Image
My feelings about Dualed's cover:     My feelings on Divided's cover:         WHAT. HAPPENED. IT'S TERRIBLE. IT'S TOO COLOFUL. TAG-LINE/BY-LINE SUCKS. THE SHADOWY FIGURE LOOKS LIKE HE'S FALLING OVER. WEST IS WEARING THE SAME CLOTHES. THE MIRRORS ANNOY ME. SHE LOOKS ALL JACKED UP IN THE MIRRORS. UNLESS THERE'S SOME SORT OF MIRROR BEHIND HER, HOW IS HER BACK REFLECTED IN FRONT OF HER!!?? SHE'S FACING THE MIRROR, AND YET HER BACK IS REFLECTED. HER SHOES LOOK FAKE. I HATE THE FONT OF THE TITLE. IT LOOKS FAKE. THE FLOOR IS UGLY. THE COLORS MAKE ME WANT TO PUKE. JUST NO. NO. NO. Cover Reaction: Divided

The following post may contain spoilers and is comprised of nothing other than my raw, biased opinion and should therefore be taken with a grain of salt. The purpose of this post is spill out my feels for a book cover in a shoddy attempt to tell you all how wonderful it is. In no way is anything I say meant to be taken personally or otherwise.  Got that? Good.  Now shut up and keep reading.  So a some random series of random neurons decided to fire in the back of brain earlier today without me telling them to. That signifies I was tired, I was braindead, or a combination thereof. That said, the random prick of thought was like Hey! Go see if that one book about that one thing has a cover yet! So, being a tired hungry braindead little nerd, I pulled out my phone and I searched up the book I hadn't thought about in months. Don't ask how such a thought came up while I was at Circuits tutoring, because I don't even know. But anyway,

Book Review: The Spectacular Now

Ok, I have just finished reading The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp. This is a review that contains spoilers. Amanda, I know you probably won't want to read this as it is kind of like Perks of Being a Wallflower. Overall: 3.5/5 stars So, The Spectacular Now is about a high school senior named Sutter, a budding alcoholic who parties a lot. He has never had a really serious girlfriend, with his longest relationship lasting a few months, until his current gilrfriend Cassidy breaks up with him. He goes to a party and wakes up on someone's front lawn, with Aimee standing over him. Sutter only means to be friends with Aimee and help her find someone, while he tries to get back together with Cassidy. As he spends more time with Aimee, she falls in love with him, and he starts to become a bad influence on her. She starts drinking with him and "stuff" happens. We'll just leave it at that. Sutter finds himself falling for Aimee and she asks him to move with her to St. L

Jasmine's Post about Angelfall

So, it took a bit of time to get Angelfall from Amanda because Tyler read it first and then gave it to me to read, but I have now read it and am writing about it here. Obviously, there will be some spoilers, so if you have not read it yet, you should get it and then come back to read this. It's pretty cheap too and the sequel is coming out in November. Okay, here we go... This book was really good, it had an interesting story and kind of reminded me of several other books. Penryn kind of reminded me of Tris in Insurgent because she did practically everything she was told not to do. She also reminded me of Katniss because she is trying to take care of her sister, who is doesn't seem to need her that much now. There were mentions of Nephilim, and I thought of TMI and TID. Raffe kind of reminds me of Fang from the Max Ride series, too. And the whole thing about the sword and its loyalty reminds me of wands in Harry Potter. It was like bits of different books in one book, w

Reaction Post: The Fall of Five

Image
WARNING: THE FOLLOWING POST CONTAINS SPOILERS  It's a freaking reaction post, what did you expect? If you have read the book and want to see my completely biased reaction, scroll down. If you don't want to be spoiled... I don't know why you're reading this to begin with. 'The Fall of Five' is the fourth novel in the I Am Number Four series by Pittacus Lore. Of course, you probably already knew that if you've read it.  Now, this is a Reaction Post, not a complete plot review, so if you were expecting some sort of plot recap, just leave. You won't find it here. I'm here to talk about what made me cringe, rage, and actually made me put the book down for a few minutes while I collected my all-over-the-floor mind.  As this is biases, you should probably know that my favorite characters are Eight and Marina, and I totally chip Mareight. Eighrina... Uh.. Marineight.  STICKING WITH MARI

.....I haven't posted in a while.....

Hello book people....hopefully you remember me...okay then. Tyler will be giving Angelfall today in Calculus, so I will finally find out what that all is about. And remember Tyler when you were laughing at me because I had to wait until November 5th for Champion, Allegiant, and House of Hades? Now I can laugh at you because you will be getting your books at the end of November. And agreed, no one should post anything remotely related to any spoilers of the books coming out this fall, without warning.  I have finished reading Elegy, the fourth and final book in the Watersong series. It was super long compared to the rest of the books. It was 542 pages and the rest were like 200-300 pages. I think that it could have been a lot shorter, considering that most of it was spent looking for certain people. It was good, though.  I was rereading Insurgent before I acquired Elegy, so I put Insurgent aside and read Elegy. And it will probably be put aside again so that I can read Angelfall.

I tortured myself in a positive way

"I think I know what I'm doing with the cash I get for selling the aforementioned access code from Physics. More on that if/when it works, because it's big enough to deserve its own post." What I did was either the best thing ever or the worst thing I could possibly do to myself for the time being. I haven't quite decided.  It's kind of like one of those times where you eat TOO MUCH good cake and then you get sick because of it.  Now, what could possibly cause that kind of effect worthy of needing it's own post? You don't know? Look down.  WHOA WHOA. Hold up. What do three COMPLETELY AMAZING BOOKS have to do with feeling like a fat kid on a cake overload? Refer to the top of this post. The 30 dollars I got for selling that thing somehow managed to buy three books. What could possibly be wrong about buying books? Well, you see, in order to fit them all in a thirty-dollar

I Had A Poopy Day

And that's where the negativity ends. #titleofthispost I got a 29 out of 30 on that math quiz I took yesterday. I got a lot of compliments on my outfit again today. I socialized and have broken more out of my shell. All of the teachers that I asked for letters of recommendation from said yes profusely. And I got my license. And I got a PSL to celebrate. A Venti PSL. God is always good. ~Amanda

Year 2 Engie Adventures, Part 2

Dear heat: Get lost. We don't want you here anymore.  DAY 2 was marvelously uneventful yet still somewhat eventful at the same time. I only had two classes today, both of which I mentioned on my last post. The first of those, Calc2, was just... meh. Nothing special.  I'm going to destroy that class, though. I'll see to that.  The other class was Statics. Not to be confused with Statistics, Statics is a branch of Physics that may or may not be covered in Physics For Engies 1. Which means, after some brushing up to get the cogs in my brain humming along, this one should be mostly review, in terms of the mathematics portions. Concepts, though, may be a different story.  Just before I started writing this post, my RA from last year popped into my apartment for a visit. He's really cool, and also a good friend. He was James' RA, too, so we sat around in the living room for a good ten-fifteen minutes just talking about random stuff. He said he'd be

Ultra Housecleaning Post!

Alright guys, I have a lot to talk about now! LET'S GO. Item No. 1 : September & Summer So, it's still the season of summer. Autumn (or fall) starts September 22nd. I personally cannot wait because I am an autumn kind of girl. I love the cold. I hate heat. :/ I love autumn because of the changing colors, the return of the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte (I got one this morning. It was 100% fantastic), the cool air, perfect running weather, and I LOVE autumn clothing styles!! What does this mean? I personally hate summer clothes. Shorts, sandals, and see-through, shrunk tank tops are NOT my style. I hate feeling so exposed and gross. It's terrible. I love autumn because it's cold enough to wear the clothes and shoes that I actually DO like. I love boots, jeans, jackets, sweatshirts, scarves, mittens, knee-high socks with short boots, and the like. It feels so nice and cozy <3 I'm also excited for this month because my mom's birthday is the

Year 2 Engie Adventures, Part 1

Where I live, September brings with it lits of merry tidings: heat waves, humidity humid enough to make a hurricane cry, dryness, sunburns, and school. I kind of hate all of those but the latter. Being back in school means all sorts of great things for me, starting with but not limited to something to do, my friends, the Caf, all the fun events put on here, the Caf, Subway, boarding around campus, the Caf, and the Caf. I like the Caf. Moving on. Today (Sept. 3) was my first official day of classes. Let's have a recap of how I got here. -> Sept 1: Move in. A lot more complications than necessary all due to a failure in communication. Way2go, Res Life. That annoyance aside, I got two roommates. One I already knew from last year (sorta) and the other was a Random. The former, James, is great. Five minutes in a room together and we were blaring to each other about anime and computer games. The Random, Spencer, is alright from what I can tell so far. He's not disruptive,
