Books I Have Read in School

So, this is a list of books/plays that I have read in my high school years thus far (I am currently a Junior).

Freshman:

  1. Lord of the Flies by William Golding
  2. The Odyssey by Homer (only part of it. I wish to read all of it this summer.)
  3. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (terribly boring...^.^;)
  4. A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry
  5. The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros
  6. Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare
Sophomore:

  1. 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke
  2. The Oedipus Plays of Sophocles [by Sophocles]
  3. The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
  4. Siddhartha by Herman Hesse
  5. Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
  6. Night by Elie Wiesel
  7. Animal Farm by George Orwell
  8. Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel García Marquez (So boring.)
Junior:

  1. Henry V by Shakespeare
  2. The Awakening by Kate Chopin
  3. Our Town by Thornton Wilder
  4. Invisible Man by Thomas Ellison (do NOT read this book.)
  5. The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger (AMAZING BOOK.)

BOOK REVIEW: THE DARKEST MINDS BY ALEXANDRA BRACKEN

I found a review on Goodreads that perfectly puts into words how I feel about this book. (Author: Mitch) (cuss words have been removed; points that I personally REALLY agreed with are in bold) On the surface, The Darkest Minds has a lot more going for it than your typical dystopian. Review: Sylo by D.J. MacHale

So, Sylo by D.J. MacHale. This is the non-spoiler part. I will tell you when the spoiler part starts. The second book in the trilogy is set for release towards the end of March, so look for it! Awesome looking cover. Yup. The beginning was strange and frankly, it scared me a little because I was reading this late at night before going to sleep. The ending, like in the last 50 pages was like: Okay, that might be a bit of an overstatement. It wasn't a feelsplosion, it was just crazy plot twists. Yeah. Leave it to D.J.
